Carrefour and Jumia Kenya Enter Delivery Partnership
Partnership will enable Carrefour to sell its groceries through Jumia’s e-commerce platform and leverage on its growing customer base in Kenya
BUSINESS BRIEF: Majid Al Futtaim, the shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure solutions firm, has announced a partnership with online shopping company Jumia to offer Carrefour Kenya groceries and household goods online beginning January 2019.
Through this partnership, more shoppers will now have access to a variety of Carrefour products. Shoppers will enjoy the same great value prices and quality of products which they enjoy at Carrefour stores at malls such as Two Rivers, The Junction and The Sarit Center. Jumia assures users on its platform of a buyer protection policy, country-wide delivery, seven-day free returns and varied payment options including cash on delivery, mobile money and credit card.
“We are happy to partner with Jumia in Kenya as we seek to extend Carrefour’s offering to more customers by leveraging on Jumia’s network and e-commerce platform,” says Franck Moreau of Carrefour Kenya at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, adding that, “This decision is based on Jumia Kenya’s credibility and excellent performance over the years in online shopping management and is consistent with Majid Al Futtaim’s omni-channel strategy for Carrefour.”
On his part, Jumia Kenya Managing Director, Sam Chappatte said, “Carrefour is one of the largest retailers in the world and growing fast in Kenya. Through this partnership, we are pleased to offer the best of Carrefour’s products to our customers across Kenya. This is part of our continued commitment to conveniently offer customers the largest range of quality products at the best prices.”
What most shoppers may not be aware of is that Carrefour regularly offers healthy food options and recipes through its website, including dishes such as: avocado toast with ricotta cheese, special Greek tortellini salad and sheet pan steak and veggies – perfect for you if you’re looking to spice up your dietary options, and maintain a healthy mix.
This partnership announcement comes as Carrefour Group’s Western and Central Africa partners CFAO also sign commercial deals to sell their products on Jumia’s platform in the Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Senegal.
