Gaming laptops have been taking over the product review pages lately, but desktop computers are still the preferred choice for gamers when looking for maximum gaming performance without any fancy print.

When we say small print, we are referring to the limitations of laptop computers in terms of the watts they can handle on their internal components, especially and above all on the CPU and GPU. In laptops, adapters do not exceed 330W in the best cases, while in a desktop computer, the power supply can be 1,000W or more.

We have a decent 1,000W power supply to properly power the CPU and GPU that comes with this MSI MEG Trident X2 14th. The acronym MEG comes from MSI Enthusiast Gaming, a nomenclature that well defines the philosophy of this equipment, where we can find the highest components as part of its hardware configuration.

The front face of the box

The CPU and GPU are important, but so is the cooling system. We will talk about these elements and others in the following section. For now, let's focus on the industrial design and external appearance of this desktop computer.

Behind the tower

In this section, we have a tower-type equipment, although it has a design that takes into account the equipment involved. The interior is no surprise, as we've already come to expect it's used to the max. The box has a balanced design based on avant-garde and classics. It doesn't look like a spaceship, but it doesn't go unnoticed, and you can't complain that it's boring. It has an interesting geometry, with a good distribution of rear and top links.

Bottom of equipment

On the front, MSI integrates the touch screen with direct access to configuration and monitoring functions of devices in the HMI 2.0 version, known as HMI or Human Machine Interface. It's one of MSI's distinct components of high-end gaming equipment, with an interesting and functional finish. Let's focus on how it works in real-life tests section. You can also watch a video of HMI 2.0 in action to give you an accurate idea of what we can do with this component.

The device comes with a highly advanced cooling system that combines liquid cooling with an air baffle design for graphics. SYSTEM SILENT STORM COOLING 3. Externally, the essence of said system is barely visible, however if we look closely, we can see nozzles and air intakes and outlets distributed on the sides, front, back, top and bottom of the equipment.
