Oaxaca promotes technology: successful projects of the Mega Hackathon 2024

(Mexico) from June 14 to 16, The “Mega Hackathon Oaxaca” Promoted by ICP Hub Mexico In collaboration with the Oaxaca Technological Institute (TecNM Oaxaca). This hackathon focuses on creating a space for entrepreneurship and innovation to create solutions and business models with blockchain technology using Internet Computer Protocol technology.

Nearly 200 students from 18 different educational institutions were part of the teams that created the hackathon. The participants were mentored by experts in the blockchain field, Cristian Zambrano, Cristina Laustonau, Luz Margarita Saucedo and Adrian Hidalgo, who developed their projects with each group.

Institutions represented: University of La Salle, University of Anahuac, Tlaxiaco Institute of Technology, Isthmo Institute of Technology, Comitancillo Institute of Technology, Tuxtepec Institute of Technology, Pinoteba Institute of Technology, Pochutla Institute of Technology, San Miguel El Grande Technological Institute, Technological Institute of Oaxaca Valley, Technological Institute of Edla Valley , Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca, Southeast Regional University, Technical University of Mixteca, Mesoamerican University and Technical University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.

In total, 15 projects were built and winners from each vertical were selected recently. Representing the best ideas and solutions developed during the event, these projects have the potential to create significant impact.

Successful projects include:

  • COIDSA: A web application for the immunization system for children that facilitates timely identification of needs in education and health systems in the state of Oaxaca.
  • Pleasant tradition: A project that seeks to value cultural heritage by recognizing handicrafts, textiles, sweets and foodstuffs through QR codes, certificates to producers and recognition of their work.
  • Vote: REST API for voting using blockchain guarantees transparency and security in election processes.

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Ñu’uyo “municipal services”: A web application that enables citizens to access and process municipal services remotely, quickly and securely.
  2. Re-Bot: The project focuses on the problem of waste, especially PET, developing solutions for its recycling and reducing environmental impact.

The three winning projects received $500 each and, along with honorable mentions, the right to participate in a three-month incubation program with Jonah Tress Labs.
