After being a trending topic, ‘Most Feared Skin’ crossed the 10,000 viewer barrier in its first week. However, its director Joel Calero questioned whether the film has lost its functionality. “We had rooms full or 95%. The schedules they gave us were mostly bad. Nevertheless, I hope they will exercise their right to watch the film,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) about the film, which represents an internal armed conflict.
The filmmaker’s claim was supported by the audiovisual industry as well as the public and journalists.. Pedro Salinas wrote: “The Most Fired Skin was a huge success in theaters, but today they removed it from mainstream theaters. Lima is the point for fascism.
A few theaters are reserved for the film at 8.20pm, but most are screened at peak times (2.30pm, 4.55pm and 9.45pm). “And the laws of the market? Well, they don’t apply in these kinds of cases. What rules tend to become a reactionary, cave-dwelling and totalitarian society, depressed and lazy in the face of this kind of autocracy,” adds Salinas in X.
The film, which premiered at the 2023 Lima Film Festival, continues the political trilogy started by Joel Calero in The Last Afternoon. The issue sparked debate on television as the filmmaker defended the film’s significance and said it was not trying to “romanticise” violence.
Journalist Hugo Goya He noted that he thought cutting rooms was “inconceivable.” “This treatment is against the logic of the market. “Something does not add up.” In that sense, in the same social network, Rosa Maria Palacios said: “What a bad sign from the rooms. I know many people who are waiting for the weekend to go away. I don’t think it’s a veto or a censure, is it? I don’t think so, but you’d better run to see it before it happens.”
Many users in theaters used the platforms to display photocaps which were well received by the public.
