The last significant earthquake in Puerto Rico occurred on January 7, 2020. The 6.4-magnitude earthquake was the largest of a series of earthquakes to hit the southwestern part of the island between December 28, 2019, and January 16, 2020. The earthquake caused widespread damage to homes, infrastructure and businesses, and resulted in four deaths.
