05/27/2024, Xalapa, Ver.- Academics and officials from the Universidad Veracruzana (UV) participated in a discussion on technology and human rights in Latin America organized by the “Ambrosio L. Gioja” Legal and Social Research Institute of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
José Othón Flores, President of the University Coordination of Laboratories (CUO) and Arturo Miguel Chípuli, Director and Operations Manager of the Legal Research Institute (IIJ) of the Observatory of Public Policies with Human Rights Approach (OPPEDH) spoke. event. .
The latter emphasized UV’s 80 years and its immense social commitment to “help solve through academia a region with many problems”.

He said that IIJ has reached 50 years and this is the reason why Jioja Institute offers workshops and conferences.
Flores Consejo noted that the purpose of university observatories “is to provide basic measures to address the common lines of knowledge production and to distinguish them from laboratory or experimental activities.”
He commented on the teachers, researchers and students who generate the data, “they conform to a strict methodology, and they are judged by what kind of science they are.” He mentioned the 26 observatories that UV has and shared that one more will be established to collect information on Xalapa’s extensive artistic production.
