Economy Minister's Christmas Wish: “Thank You for the Sacrifice”

The Minister of National Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, sent Christmas greetings through social networks, in which he thanked society for its “sacrifice” and “support”. A sharp fall in the incomes of the expanding strata of the population.

“Merry Christmas to all. Thanks for the sacrifice, and for the support felt more than ever, Caputo wrote congratulations on his X profile (LuisCaputoAR).

The head of the Treasury Palace expressed himself in this way after introducing an adjustment plan that included a 118% devaluation and the fall of all price contracts, which meant a sharp drop in income due to the effect of inflation. These measures were developed.

Despite this, Caputo, who was already an official during Mauricio Macri's government, said he felt support “more than ever,” although he did not specify from whom.

Meanwhile, a post by economist Fernando Marul stood out on X, who talked about the “suppressed” inflation that had begun to unravel in recent days after key prices for the economy were released.

In that message, Marul estimated that inflation was suppressed by about 70 points due to the price cuts and freeze that the Alberto Fernández government dragged out until the end.

A couple of days ago, the Economy Minister thanked the news for supporting fiscal balance: plans to end the deficit in 1 year. Don't print more pesos: BCRA may even destroy pesos. 10/10,” the tweet said.

The same day he retweeted a post by the president in which he talked about the risk of hyperinflation facing the economy. “For those who say there is no danger of hyperinflation. They cannot admit their inability and/or ignorance to manage the economy. The only way to end this is to freeze the money supply (hence zero deficit and clean up the BCRA).”
