ENTEL Conducts First Trial of 5G Open Network Technology (OPEN RAN) in Peru – Business Empresario

Commercial Empire.- In partnership with renowned Japanese company DOCOMO, Entel conducted the first test of 5G stand-alone technology for open networks (Open Ran).

Open networks allow the use of common servers to provide 5G stand-alone service independent of the 4G network, which translates into a more flexible and efficient network with lower latency, which is fundamental to the development of telemedicine, the Internet of Things, etc. Others.

During testing by Entel, download speeds of 790 Mbps were achieved, with significantly lower latency compared to the 4G-based 5G NSA network.

Transformative impact
The implementation of open networks will bring several benefits to telecommunications in Peru:

 Promoting innovation: A more competitive and dynamic environment will be created to encourage the development of advanced technological solutions.

 Cost reduction: New and interoperability between different providers will allow significant reductions in the costs of implementing and operating mobile networks.

 Flexibility and Adaptability: Networks will be more agile and able to quickly adapt to new technologies, artificial intelligence and future market needs.

“We are committed to a paradigm shift in telecommunications in Peru. “With Open Networks technology, Intel will drive innovation toward a more efficient, accessible and more agile network infrastructure for the benefit of our users,” said Alexis Lichy, CEO of Intel Peru.
