Mostly: Science and technology series for seniors now available for free on YouTube

The TV series “MayorMente” stars science communicators Macarena Rojas Ábalos and Nicolás Luco; A generational journey immersing themselves in topics like artificial intelligence, climate change and food trends.

Conversations about science, technology, and knowledge in general, as well as human stories and adventures, in a series of six chapters designed for older adults, the topics are conveyed through inquiry, debate, and on-the-ground, genealogical conversation. The presenters are a certain duo: Macarena Rojas Abalos -Biologist and Science Communicator-, and Nicolas Lugo -Science Journalist, Columnist and Senior Leader 2022-, 37 and 81 years old respectively.

The idea is that people will define their favorite topics. For this, and thanks to the support of CEVE UC, more than 250 focus groups and surveys were carried out. Thus emerged the themes of the six chapters that bring the program to life. Each of these topics is addressed by two experts, one from a scientific-technical perspective and the other from the social sciences; Most of the episodes involve cases of elderly people.

Behind “MayorMente” is a collective work. The production was carried out by Media UC, affiliated with the Office of the Vice-Rector for Communications and Cultural Extension of UC, and the script was by Alejandro Bruna, journalist, writer and PhD student in Communication Science at UC. Related organizations are Canal 13C and the Conecta Mayoral Foundation. Another key actor was the UC Vice-Chancellor for Research, where Eliot Angel serves as the Coordinator of the Knowledge Communication Unit.
