The Gender and Human Rights course is part of the Ministry of Economy’s initiatives to promote and plan public policies with a gender perspective aimed at improving the lives of citizens in the regions. 30 MEPyD collaborators are trained in it.

Ruben Volquez, Head of Training, Human Resources Directorate, and Carlos Campillo Salles, Head of Gender Division, Directorate of Institutional Planning and Development (DIBIT), gave the welcome address. He informed that the training will be hybrid (in-person and virtual) and therefore educational books and videos will be published on the Ministry of Economy’s education platform.

In this sense, face-to-face time will be addressed in sessions facilitated by experts on the topics and through activities created on the Ministry of Economy’s virtual platform. Participation in virtuality is equally important and mandatory as attending in-person sessions.

Counselor Esperanza Suazo was the training coordinator. Course content establishes the following topics: gender, gender and socialization mechanisms, discrimination, stereotypes, gender intersectionality, prejudice, gender roles and gender relations, and the sexual division of labor. Gender perspective, principles of equality and equity, gender diversity, principles of equality, legislative and regulatory framework for equality and human rights.
